San Francisco 49ers Team News
New Coach, New Beginnings
Posted by: maskedhorsemen on 2010-05-12

Hard nose football is back in San Francisco. The more things change in San Francisco, the more things remain the same. After legendary Coach Staples stepped down this off season many would have thought the face of the Niners would have changed as well. In and out went Coach NG with his pass happy offense. I as well as others believed it was just the fresh start that San Francisco had longed for but in the standings it has only equaled into a 1-4 start which led to the firing of head Coach NG. Now steps in Coach Carroll who believes in hard nose football. He said “The long ball is for sissies!” which brought upon laughs from all media outlets including yours truly. But, after some further thought into his statement I think he was saying if it isn’t broke, why fix it. For many seasons Coach Staples has been a winner with a fierce defense and running the rock behind the guards. This team has been built in that image for so long it’s almost foolish to believe you could come in here, trade a few players, and try to change that culture. Let’s see if Coach Carroll can turn this brand of football into championships something neither coach before him was capable of doing.
